What is Shimanami Kaido?
Shimanami Kaido しまなみ海道 (also known as the Nishiseto Expressway) is a road-bridge transportation networks that connects Hiroshima to the island of Shikoku, passing over several small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. The scenery along the road is very charming. The biggest feature is that there is a well marked and maintained bicycle lane on the bridge, so it is known as a paradise for cyclists. The total length is about 70 kilometers, and it’s also the first bicycle lane in Japan that lets you cross a sea strait.
